Cereal makes a great topper for cupcakes. You can sprinkle them on top of frosting and it gives the cupcake a nice crunchy texture to accompany the moist cake. Just make sure to add the cereal right before consuming so it doesn't get soggy absorbing the liquids from the frosting.
It’s also great for baking into cookies. Have someone try a cookie and see if they can guess what the surprise ingredient is! Chances are, they’ll be startled by your creativity. Other cereals that are great in cookies include Rice Krispies, corn flakes, and granola. Puppy chow, also known as muddy buddies, are one of the most popular cereal desserts made using Chex. The normal recipe has chocolate, peanut butter, and powdered sugar, but you can always mix it up by adding Nutella or using white chocolate instead. Another easy switch up dessert is rice crispy treats. These Lucky Charms Ice Cream Sandwiches pictured above are a perfect example of that since all you do is change the type of cereal used and add ice cream in between for a brand new unique dessert. All of these desserts require a little thinking outside of the box. You may be used to eating them in a bowl, but you can do so much more with them if you just try! Perhaps you can make a pie crust using Golden Grahams instead of graham crackers or replace some bread crumbs with rice crisps? What would you make with a box of cereal?
